Well I’m glad to be able to work there, I was really lucky It’s pretty much a dream job, because most of the time I’m having a lot of fun and I’ve always wanted to do something like this! It is very challenging though, especially when actually doing character animation, having to bring these characters to life. I too only started learning that less than 2 years ago at the university, but I think until now I’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg, it is much harder than I thought

So it can be tedious sometimes, takes a good deal of trial and error, but it feels even better if the animation works and looks natural in the end. I’m not sure yet if it’s really the one thing I want to keep doing in the future, because sometimes I think that all that work that I put in just a few seconds of video might not even get noticed. But maybe that’s just how I feel because I’m only just starting out, I guess in the end it will probably be worth it.

ATM I enjoy modeling stuff more, because I have a little more experience at that, it just comes naturally and I can fully utilize my perfectionism Building things like that almost feels as creative as drawing, I love having so much control and going from a raw shape to a very detailed one

I have some ideas as to what I could do once I’m finished, but nothing definite yet. Even playing with the thought of going to some animation school in the USA, but those are very expensive. It’s something I still have to figure out… Exciting times!

You must be having a lot of fun at this work experience job! Fiftyeight looks like a really cool place to work at, from their website and the clips you showed here. It must be great to be able to work along on those kinds of projects

Do you like working in 3D modelling/animation (well probably, or you wouldn’t have chosen this study/job ) or does it also get tedious at times? I had one semester of 3D animation when I was still doing Media Technology, and thought it was quite nice to do (nice enough that if I had been accepted into art school, it’s what I would have majored in, even) but creating really decent models right down to the details was quite hard work as well. More so than simply drawing/painting manually.

Do you have any idea yet what you want to do once you’re finished with college? Any big dreams of working for Pixar or anything?

Wow, das ist irgendwie voll cool, dass das Ding dich nach R.E.M. Phasen wecken kann! Sooooooooo coooool!
Mein Handy spinnt schon seit ein paar Monaten, da gehn ein paar Knöpfe nicht mehr und zB den Wecker oder Timer kann ich nicht mehr stellen,was voller Mist ist.
Ich brauch ein Neues, aber wenn ich ehrlich bin: Ich will ein nettes altes Nokia!!!!!

Hab mir diesmal nicht so viel Mühe gegeben beim schreiben, nächstes Mal solls besser werden. Freut mich dass es trotzdem Anklang findet

@Gloria:
Oh Mann, ich sollt mich gar nicht beschweren, 24h sind ja irre. Ich fahr täglich 22 Min ohne Fußweg in eine Richtung, das sind dann 3,66h in der Woche. Also echt nicht so wild, außer die S-Bahn hat so wie letztens eine halbe Stunde Verspätung. Würd ich jedes Wochenende mit dem Zug nach Klagenfurt fahren, wäre das in eine Richtung 8-10h. Somit würd ich dir mit fast 22h insgesamt Konkurrenz machen

Das find ich auch– da erfährt meinereiner mal wieder was aus der großen weiten Welt;)
Hast du dir ausgerechnet,wie viel Zeit du in Öffis und so verbringst? Bei mir warens etwa 24 h in der Woche(!!!!) als ich in Wien war– man muss aber dazu sagen,dass ich jede Woche heim und wieder raus gefahren bin, also 16 h allein für die Öffis in Wien.Tja…böh!
Ich kann Bahnhöfe nicht mehr sehen;)

Das was du da beschrieben hast, dass du dich sprachlich automatisch an die Umgebung angleichst, das kommt mir bekannt vor– ich mein, ein bisschen tut das sicher jeder,aber mir passiert das auch immer, selbst bei krassen Dialekten;)
